Suikoden Star Leap will feature an all-new story that transcends time, allowing legacy characters from the past to return.
Who should return and why? A top 10 tiered list awaits!
We kick off with Tier B, with some familiar faces from Suikoden IV and V!
Eresh can be found late in-game in Suikoden V, and she is from the Nagarea Theocracy. She seems to know Jeane quite well, and has knowledges he won’t share. After the Sun Rune War, the ruins in the Big Hole disappear, as does she. We have no clue who she is, how much she knows of the Sindar, or the events of the Nagarea Theocracy.
This might be something to explore in possibly Suikoden VI, with hints in Star Leap?
Shula Valya comes from the New Armes Kingdom, who is a minor factor in the Sun Rune War. He does not join you, and appears to lean back during the events in which he is displayed. Trying to cooperate against the Godwins, and having his sister Josephine (Yuma Valya) recruited, he sends Sharmista and Nifsara with you. After the war, he became New Armes ambassador to Sol-Falena. We all wonder what New Armes in-depth role and history is.
Star Leap could bring more of it to light, but combining it with the Nagarea Theocracy in VI would be a brilliant idea. The Trinity Sight system of III might be an option, if executed well.
Lino en Kuldes is a major character in Suikoden IV, being the King of Obel, and subsequently the first leader of the united Island Nations Federation.
With his daughter Flare and protagonist son Lazlo, he’s faced it all in the eyes of destiny.
Though, we never got to explore what happened after the Island Liberation War, except for the events of Suikoden Tactics. The Kooluk Empire ceases to exist. But what happens to the Federation, the Gaien Dukedom to the west, and the Scarlet Moon Empire to the north, is unknown. I’d love to witness this charismatic leader in action once more.
Maxine is the deadly diva as I call her. She doesn’t hesitate to burn you verbally, before trying to destroy you with her Cyclone Rune. A highly skilled assassin, she renounces her contract with Ramada, once she learns of the details. In Tactics, she is found on Hermitage Island, secluded from the world. Simeon says she’s a nice person, having shown some more emotion.
Where she goes off to after the events of Tactics remains unknown, but I want to see this great mage return for a power boost to my party. And to hear of all the crazy things she has done in her lifetime to get some final burns!
Tier A consists of more major characters across the Suikoden Universe.
Freyjadour Falenas is the protagonist of Suikoden V. One of the most subtle developments in character emotion and growing up is displayed in his story.
Once the Sun Rune War ends, he becomes the commander of the Queen’s Knights, assisting his sister Lymsleia, who is the new queen.
Other than this development, we never learned how his story ended. Did he fight again, against who, or did he retreat peacefully into the sunset? To be explored hopefully in Star Leap!
Kika is a famed pirate leader with her Falcon Rune. It’s said she met her demise on the high seas, long after the Island Liberation War was over. Her Falcon Rune was one of the strongest weapons in Suikoden IV, as she would not go unbalanced. What a team she could be with other holders like Anita, Valeria and.. Belcoot!
The former gladiator Belcoot vies to end slavery of gladiators. He became a teacher in Stormfist after the Sun Rune War and helped Marina out with her inn. A strong warrior with a romantic side. Thus, a character to learn more of during his time as gladiator and his motives during the Sun Rune War.
Tier S consists of characters that MUST return to Suikoden, at least in Star Leap!
We want to learn why Pesmerga did not show up in Suikoden III, when Yuber joined the destroyers alongside Luc, Sarah and Albert.
What happened in time and space of the Suikoden Universe between these two? I want to see that in Star Leap!
Zerase is my top pick of all the Stars of Destiny to return, even more than Yuber and Pesmerga.
She’s a charismatic enigma, reluctant to help, but witnessing the events of the Sun Rune War in Suikoden V evolve. She is wise, knows Leknaat and Jeane, and has knowledge of the Sindar. Reasons for Zweig, Killey and Lorelai to be interested as well in her appearance.
She possesses empathy, when trying to prevent Sialeeds from using the Twilight Rune she can’t control. She stays with her as she passes away.
Zerase is a critical character to many intertwined stories, and her range goes far beyond witnessing the three runes of Falena.
A really powerful mage, her and Maxine might be a deadly combination on the battlefield as well.
Dark, deadly, diva, destroyer. More Zerase in all of Suikoden, yes please!
