A Rather Unusual Delivery from Norway

After our previous journey through Norway, it is time to get back behind the wheel and take on another long-distance delivery. This time, we’re leaving Bergen behind and heading all the way to Liepāja in Latvia.

The cargo is a little different from what we usually transport. We’re carrying 23 tonnes of Halloween Treats, with a contract value of €59,744. I suppose even the people of Latvia need to stock up on something sweet for Halloween!

Our destination is Rosmark in Liepāja, so there is a fair distance to cover before we can finally unload the trailer. With the Mercedes-Benz Actros ready to go, it’s time to get this delivery underway.

Crossing the Norwegian Landscape

Leaving Bergen means dealing with the Norwegian road network once again. Norway is certainly one of those countries where you cannot simply switch off your brain and let the kilometres roll by. The roads demand attention, and the scenery has a habit of distracting you if you’re not careful.

One of the highlights of this journey is crossing the Hardanger Bridge, or Hardangerbrua. At 652 metres long, it is an impressive sight, especially with the surrounding mountains and water stretching out into the distance.

There is something special about driving across these enormous bridges. You get a moment to appreciate the landscape around you, while having to keep a close eye on the road ahead. After all, we’re not out here for sightseeing alone. Those Halloween Treats need to reach their destination in one piece!

The journey continues, and with a delivery this long, there is plenty of road ahead. It is one of those jobs where patience matters just as much as keeping the truck under control.

Into the Night

As the journey continues, night starts to fall and before long we’re driving through the darkness. The roads look a little different once the sun goes down, and the headlights become our best friends.

Driving at night can be quite relaxing, especially when there’s not much traffic around. You have to stay focused, eyes on the road. One wrong move is enough to turn a peaceful drive into a rather unpleasant situation. With plenty of kilometres ahead of us, there’s no room for losing concentration.

At one point, we pull over for a break. With 735 kilometres remaining, there is no point in pretending that the delivery is nearly finished. There is a big distance left to cover, and getting some rest is part of the job.

After the break, it is time to get moving again. The clock keeps ticking, and our destination in Latvia is  waiting for us.

Halloween Treats Delivered in Latvia

Eventually, the kilometres begin to disappear and Liepāja gets closer. What started as a departure from Bergen has turned into another substantial international delivery.

Our destination is Rosmark, where the 23 tonnes of Halloween Treats can finally be unloaded. With a contract value of €59,744, this is certainly not a delivery we wanted to mess up.

Another long-distance job completed, and another destination added to our growing list of places visited across Europe.

Every delivery brings something different. Sometimes we get a nice, relaxing drive, while other times the roads keep us busy from start to finish. That’s part of the fun, though. We’re slowly working our way towards running our own transport company, and there’s still plenty to learn and experience before we get there.

This one had a bit of everything, from the impressive Norwegian scenery around Hardangerbrua to the quiet roads during the night.

For now, the Halloween Treats are safely delivered

Time to take a break and see where the road takes us next.

Until the next journey, keep the shiny side up and the rubber side down!
